Foundations and challenges of international security
In an increasingly complex global security environment, national and inter-regional security issues continue to emerge. Participants’ learning content includes the basic concepts of international security, including concepts such as national security, collective security, and human security, and discusses current challenges they face, such as terrorism, cyber warfare, and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. We will examine various dynamics and trends affecting international security to provide students with in-depth insights.
Conflict prevention and crisis management
In order to better understand and deal with conflicts, we will provide an in-depth analysis of different strategies for conflict prevention and crisis management, including but not limited to diplomatic negotiation, peacebuilding, conflict mediation and international legal approaches. Participants will learn how to use these tools to prevent conflict escalation and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of crisis response.
Humanitarian action and protection of civilians
In conflicts, protecting civilians and providing humanitarian assistance are crucial. We focus on how to take effective measures to protect non-combatants in situations of conflict and tension and how to provide emergency assistance to people affected by conflict. Content will cover international human rights and humanitarian law, refugee and displaced person protection, and the role of the international community in humanitarian crises.
Peacebuilding and post-conflict recovery
When conflicts end, it is crucial to build lasting peace and achieve social and economic recovery. Our teaching content will cover the different stages of peacebuilding, including conflict resolution, governance and rule of law, security sector reform, and promoting economic development and social harmony. Participants will gain knowledge and skills on how to assist post-conflict countries with effective reconstruction and development.
Multilateral institutions and international security
The United Nations and other multilateral institutions play a central role in issues of international security and conflict. We will take participants to explore how these institutions operate and their role and limitations in preventing and resolving international conflicts. The content will include the structure and functions of international security institutions and how to advance the international security agenda through these institutions.
