In the past two years, several conflicts, natural disasters and economic collapse, such as the continuation of the Syrian civil war, the political and economic crisis in Venezuela, the conflict in Yemen and drought in East Africa, have caused large-scale population displacement.

This section will introduce international laws and treaties related to refugee protection, including the 1951 Convention on the Status of Refugees and its 1967 Protocol. At the same time, the application of these legal frameworks in specific cases over the past two years, such as for refugees from the Middle East and Africa, will be discussed, and the challenges and limitations in practice will be analyzed.

This section will focus on the major refugee flow hotspots in the past two years, such as the refugee crisis triggered by regime change in Afghanistan, ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and unintended migration caused by climate change.
